Hey there, I’m Miranda.
Feat. Akamari, Studio Cat
I am a Seattle-based Industrial Designer working on products and environments for Teague. Additionally, I have collaborated with Advanced Design’s formal education-disrupting initiative known as Offsite, IDSA’s Northern Lakes group, and the Chicago-born Women in Industrial Design group.
I previously worked on medical devices, solving complex problems with a cross-disciplinary team including Human Factors, Research, and Engineering.
I ensured that communication with my team and clients ran smoothly in spite of the hybrid work situation many of us were experiencing. I did not take lightly the impact medical devices can have on people, patients, surgeons, or doctors, and was methodical in helping my clients drive the right decisions forward.
I strive to be a generalist: an expert in the iterative process. Every phase of the design process excites me and I personally need diverse projects to remain motivated and challenged.
My goal as a designer is to challenge and question traditionally held beliefs about what design means to companies and to people. Advocating for life-centered design, as opposed to just human-centered, I hope to inspire my teammates and clients to push beyond the human element and consider all aspects of the impact products have on people, society, and the planet.
I dream of someday being “launched into space”, whether that means I actually get the opportunity to experience zero gravity or contributes in some way to the advancement of space exploration.
My biggest career dream is to create devices, wearables, and the like for the future of space exploration, space tourism, and commercial space.
Experience
-
I am a part of Teague’s Aerospace Design Studio, working on the future of air and space travel.
-
I had the responsibility of aiding other designers, engineers, researchers and clients in their goal to create thoughtful solutions to real world problems. This manifested itself in the form of leading brainstorms, producing quick sketches, exploratory CAD models, product photography, and much more. I had the pleasure of being a part of a wide range of product categories, such as consumer, industrial, and medical products. The fast pace of a consulting environment, combined with the ever-changing subjects pushed me to think fast and remain flexible.
-
I have helped to organize and lead a Design Sprint with a local university and design consultancy, assisted with the execution of Advanced Design's yearly conference, SQ1, been a leading member of their Outreach Initiative that aims to teach high school students about the design industry, and most recently have had the opportunity to join their Experience Team, which aims to ensure that the students of Advanced Design's Offsite education program have the best experience they can, as well as aiding the instructors during their classes
-
I independently contracted for various global and Milwaukee-local clients. The work ranged from sketch exploration to research to CAD and architectural renderings. Some of my designs exist around Milwaukee, WI and serve as parks and public event spaces.
-
I regularly worked directly with clients to understand and translate their company offerings and goals into architectural representations. I achieved this by creating realistic concept renderings with Autodesk Maya & Unreal Engine, as well as creating 2D graphic designs for rendering concepts with a focus on client branding.
